CLI Review - Final Guidance

Calling Line Identification or CLI provides important protection to Islanders by allowing them to see the number of a caller before deciding to answer or not. Advancing technology makes it easier for fraudsters to change the number presented, persuading people to answer and potentially disclose personal information such as bank details, which can lead to both financial loss and emotional harm. To help combat this type of fraud, we have consulted on introducing a CLI regulation and supplementary guidance for telecoms operators. This process is now complete, with the Final Notice amending local Class II and Class III telecoms licences to contain the new licence condition issued alongside supplementary CLI guidance.
