Complaints

The JCRA relies greatly on information it receives directly from businesses or consumers.  It therefore encourages businesses and consumers with evidence of anti-competitive behaviour to provide this evidence to the JCRA in the form of complaints.  The JCRA will then assess the complaint to see if it has grounds to commence an investigation.

The JCRA is only concerned with competition law and regulation of telecommunications and the postal service. It cannot deal with, nor offer any advice on consumer complaints and trading standards issues. For such matters you will need to contact the Citizens Advice Bureau or Trading Standards Service.

How do I make a complaint?

Complaints should be made in writing, using the Competition Law, Telecommunications or Postal Complaint Form.  The forms may be downloaded and then completed.  The Complaint Forms require the complainant to certify that the information is correct to the best of the complainant’s knowledge and belief.  In the case of a complaint by a company, the Form must be signed by a Director or the Company Secretary.

You may, if you wish, submit a complaint anonymously. However, the investigation into your complaint will be greatly aided by you supplying us with your contact details. You can be assured that we will not reveal your identity to the accused party or pass on any of your details to any third party without your consent.
